November Board Member of the Month

Suzanne Buzek
VP Mentorship

How long have you been an AMA member?

I have been a member since 2013 and started volunteering in 2013 on the Volunteers Committee. I joined the board in 2015 as VP Volunteers, then was VP Marcom Special Events, Presidential Track (President year 2018-19), Advisor, Collegiate, and now VP Mentorship.

What is your role with the AMA?

VP Mentorship leads the committee that is piloting our chapter’s mentorship program this year. We paired 13 mentors and mentees during the month of November and had an in-person kickoff in which everyone had to network with clues to try and guess or find their mentor or mentee.

Why do you participate in the AMA?

The amazing people I’ve met through AMA – both locally and at the national level through chapter leadership – have become “my people.” There have been times in my career when I was a marketer of one or felt isolated, and AMA was there. AMA got me in the best “marketing shape” I’ve ever been in through training and professional development.

Why would you encourage others to join the AMA?

Grow your skills, grow your network. Cultivate a bit more focus, purpose, and ambition to your career beyond your day job.

Networking among fellow marketers helps me see the broad scope of the industry, showing me the endless possibilities my career can go. The community is also incredibly supportive in growing your skills or developing new ones you may not learn otherwise.

The people are AMAzing and are here to guide you through your professional life. Whether you want to discover a new skill, grow your network, or understand the opportunities within the marketing industry, AMA is the place to be.
